In June 2012, the Philadelphia City Council passed energy benchmarking and disclosure legislation requiring all commercial buildings 50,000 square feet or larger to use the U.S. EPA’s ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager tool to report their energy and water usage annually to the City of Philadelphia, beginning with 2012 data. The reporting deadline for submitting calendar year 2015 energy and water data is June 30, 2016.
Given the impact of this deadline on some members of the greater Philadelphia business community, we’re thrilled the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce (GPCC) chose to feature us in its May 2016 Member Spotlight column for the latest issue of GPCC News.
As many of you know, Portfolio Manager is an online tool for tracking energy and water consumption, as well as greenhouse gases. Portfolio Manager is the industry-leading benchmarking tool and is currently used by 40% of the U.S. commercial building space.
WGL Energy Services, Inc. (WGL Energy) can help commercial building owners and managers in Philadelphia save energy and money with automated Portfolio Manager benchmarking. WGL Energy commercial customers have free, online access to our Energy Management Platform (EMP), which makes benchmarking easy with the automated data transfer of both your electricity and natural gas directly into Portfolio Manager. Once a building’s EMP account is linked with Portfolio Manager, its energy usage data is automatically uploaded on a monthly basis.
We’re proud to be featured by GPCC in this month’s Member Spotlight and look forward to serving our commercial customers and fellow members of the GPCC, both with their energy reporting and in the development of holistic energy management strategies for their business.
