The Internet of Things Is Impacting the Future of Energy
Our energy technology solutions are future-ready today and help drive energy efficiency improvements

The Internet of Things (IoT) is transforming the way we manage and consume energy. Empowering residential and commercial users with actionable insights that help them manage their consumption is impacting the future of energy in a measurable way, helping to drive improvements in energy efficiency and greater cost savings.

Through our partnership with Innowatts, WGL Energy Services (WGL Energy) residential customers in Pennsylvania’s PPL Electric Utilities territory have access to a new mobile energy management app to track, manage and lower their home energy costs.

The downloadable app is powered by WGL Energy’s technology partner, Innowatts, through their predictive energy analytics platform, Power EASE. The proprietary platform is the first of its kind in the energy sector to use predictive technology to provide residential customers with both historical trends and analysis, as well as forward looking information, notifications and alerts that can help them reduce energy usage and be more energy efficient. The convenient app comes loaded with individual energy usage data and is continuously updated with information received automatically from the account holder's electricity meter.

With the Energy Management Platform (EMP), WGL Energy government, commercial and industrial customers in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, D.C. can make smart energy decisions through the use of innovative technology, including data and analytics.

The EMP empowers customers with the ability to manage their energy budget, calculate carbon emissions, achieve sustainability goals and benchmark against industry standards. It delivers easy to understand metrics and insights, along with energy efficiency recommendations that can be customized to each facility.

To learn more about the EMP, check out the recent article in Energy Update.
