WGL Energy Hosts Philadelphia Lunch and Learn for Building Owners and Managers
Focus of event is on creating and maximizing an effective energy management strategy

Recently, Olga Riggs-Miller, WGL Energy Services (WGL Energy) Business Development Manager, hosted a lunch and learn in Philadelphia for members of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) Philadelphia. The focus of the one-hour session was on helping building owners and managers create and maximize an effective energy management strategy for their buildings.

The agenda included a brief discussion on competitive markets for power and natural gas, decision criteria for outsourcing energy procurement (versus managing it in-house), achieving energy diversity through a holistic energy strategy and the growth in offsite/community renewables.

While “energy is often treated as a fixed cost by building owners,”1 participants learned that “energy efficiency in commercial buildings continues to be a great opportunity to save Philadelphia business owners money and reduce the city’s carbon footprint.”2 Olga encouraged her audience to start thinking more strategically about energy, beyond “price” and in the context of improved energy efficiency and a more diversified energy portfolio.

For more on this lunch and learn event, or to start a conversation on how you can maximize your building's energy management strategy, please contact Olga at olga.riggs-miller@wglenergy.com.
