WGL Teams with Local Food Bank to End Hunger
Employee event focuses on the power of giving back to our communities

At WGL (WGL Holdings, Inc.), we believe in the power of giving back to the communities in which we live.

That’s why a group of WGL employees gathered recently for an afternoon team building session in northern Virginia. Participants included employees from WGL Energy (WGL Energy Services and WGL Energy Systems) and other WGL affiliates.

Employees were divided into sixteen teams. Each team was tasked with building a miniature golf course hole. Team members had an opportunity to collaborate, embracing diversity of thought and an open-minded approach to solving new challenges, as they worked together to create an indoor miniature golf course. Each hole was made of non-perishable food items, like canned goods and boxes of macaroni and cheese. Teams then scrambled to see which would be the first to get a hole-in-one on each hole.

Once the competition had ended, a representative from the Capital Area Food Bank shared an update on her organization’s efforts to end hunger in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. The event concluded with the donation of over fifteen large boxes of non-perishable food items, as WGL employees helped load the boxes onto a waiting Capital Area Food Bank truck.
