WGL Energy Shares Insights on Offsite Renewable Procurement at Solar Forum
Leaders from corporate, solar, finance and legal sectors explore challenges and opportunities

Solar Energy Industries Association’s Solar Goes Corporate forum was held on May 31, 2017, in New York City. The event brought together leaders from the corporate, solar, finance and legal sectors to share insights on how businesses, solar project developers and service providers can work successfully to procure, deploy, and invest in solar.

Richard Walsh, WGL Energy Services (WGL Energy) Program Lead for Clean Energy Solutions, led a discussion on offsite renewable procurement. Rich’s discussion focused on emerging trends and perspectives on commercial and industrial procurement. His talk detailed various procurement structures available to businesses of all types and he provided case studies of recently completed projects. His case studies showed that, if structured properly, any organization can enjoy the benefits of cost savings, reduced price volatility and increased sustainability provided by off-site renewable energy.

Corporations are leading the way in offsite renewable energy procurement through the direct purchase of electricity from utility-scale solar projects, virtual net-metering and in some cases bypassing the utility altogether.

WGL Energy solar products provide environmentally responsible, cost-effective options for commercial customers committed to stabilizing energy costs, reducing their carbon footprint and supporting the environment.
