WGL Energy to Sponsor MACo Summer Conference in Ocean City, Maryland
Discover how our clean energy solutions are making a positive impact on the economy and environment.

The 2017 Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) Summer Conference is being held this week, August 16-19, at the Roland Powell Convention Center in Ocean City, Maryland. The theme of this year’s conference is “You’re Hired” and the focus will be on new jobs growth in Maryland, particularly in the agriculture, clean energy, education, environment, military and technology industries.

WGL Energy Services (WGL Energy) is a Corporate Silver Sponsor of this year’s conference. Our team will be on site during exhibit hours to showcase how our environmentally-friendly energy technology solutions for commercial and industrial customers, as well as local and county governments, are making a positive impact on the state’s economy and environment. Don’t forget to pick up your WGL Energy tote bag at check-in and visit us in Exhibit Hall A/B, Booth 700. Let us help you discover the energy answers you need to address your energy-related challenges. And, while you’re there, be sure to enter our drawing for a free Nest Thermostat — a connected thermostat that allows you to remotely control the temperature in your home. The winner of the raffle will be announced on August 18.

On Thursday, August 17, Jack Ensor, WGL Energy Sales Director, will discuss the continued benefits of participating in Maryland’s Aggregate Net Energy Metering (ANEM) program. This sponsor session will occur in Room 210, from 10:00 am – 10:30 am. Be sure to join him for this informative discussion on leveraging the financial and environmental benefits of solar power.

WGL Energy is also greening this year’s conference, which means that we will donate carbon offsets to counterbalance the greenhouse gas emissions incurred from the event (such as energy use, hotel stays, food and other waste) — equivalent to avoiding greenhouse gas emissions from 34 cars for one year.

Carbon Offsets from WGL Energy are Green-e® Climate certified and derived from third-party verified carbon reduction projects in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Green-e® Climate is an independent certification program that ensures carbon offsets meet the program’s high environmental and consumer protection standards. Our supply of carbon offsets comes from carbon-reduction projects in the waste management sector, such as the capture and destruction of methane from regional landfills.
