Clean Energys Impact on the Jobs Outlook
Investments in clean energy are expected to continue to have a positive effect on the economy.

According to a recent report released by the National Association of State Energy Officials, clean energy is having a positive impact on job growth and the economy. Additionally, roles within this sector such as windmill operators, energy efficient manufacturers and solar installers pay more on average than the national median income. American workers in wind, solar and energy efficiency account for over 3 million positions within clean energy. Growth in clean energy employment is being evaluated by political leaders across the country to aid in reducing unemployment, improving public health and spurring economic growth.

Energy Efficiency
Over the past two years, the energy efficiency sector has employed over 2 million people and added the most jobs of any energy industry in 2017. Most of these jobs are in construction and manufacturing with one in every six construction jobs connected to energy efficiency. Additionally, ENERGY STAR® appliance manufacturers employ one-fourth of energy efficiency workers and deliver billions of dollars in consumer savings. Roles within this sector are expected to continue their growth.

Wind Energy
In 2017, over 100,000 workers were employed by wind energy companies, an increase of 6 percent over the previous year. Similar to energy efficiency roles, many wind jobs are in the construction and manufacturing industries. These workers are highly skilled builders of turbine components and at times work at high altitudes to install and maintain wind towers. Opportunities in this sector are expected to increase as companies look for more ways to reduce their carbon footprint.

Conclusion
The outlook for roles within the clean energy sector is positive. Companies across the nation are expected to continue investing in clean energy to achieve their sustainability goals. With proper investments, jobs within clean energy will have a positive impact on the economy.
