Peak Season Nears End
Weekly review for March 9 - 16, 2019

On Friday, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported that working gas in storage as of Friday, March 08, 2019 was 1,186 BCF. This is a decrease of 204 BCF from the previous week. Inventories are currently 359 BCF lower than last year during this same period and 569 BCF below the 5-year average of 1,755 BCF.

A seasonal weather pattern will be in place for the next week across the PJM region, while a warming trend will start to build in the back half of the 15-day forecast. As we move out of peak weather season, plant outages will have potential price implications as plants and grid infrastructure are pulled off-line for maintenance.

Both power and gas prices decreased slightly this week. The PJM Western Hub 12 Month curve lost 0.8% and the NYMEX natural gas 12-month curve fell 0.4%.
