Mild Weather Pattern Will Continue
Weekly review for February 24 - February 28, 2020

On Thursday, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported that working gas in storage as of Friday, February 21, 2020 was 2,200 Bcf. This is a decrease of 143 Bcf from the previous week and was lower than market expectations. Inventories are currently 637 Bcf higher than last year during this same period and 279 Bcf above the 5-year average.

The end of the winter season is approaching and there are no signs of a change to the mild weather pattern that has persisted since late December. The current forecast shows temperatures at or above normal in the PJM region through the middle of March.

Overall, the PJM West Hub 12 Month curve decreased 3.7% this week while the NYMEX natural gas 12-month curve decreased 5%. Both markets remain at or very close to 5 year lows for most terms.
